You know what this next scene is like.
You pick out a pair of jeans and grab a top thinking this is the perfect outfit to wear today. You put it on and step over to the mirror but what you see doesn’t match what you pictured in your mind.
Instead of going into the day feeling confident, you start with major self-doubt.
How can you stop this recurring “Outfit Overwhelm?”
You can begin by asking yourself some questions and answering them honestly:

- Do you KNOW YOUR BODY TYPE?
- Are you dressing the right way for it?
- Do the clothes in your closet actually belong on YOUR body?
- Are they accentuating your best features or drawing attention to the wrong areas?

Discover Your Body Type
Did you know there are 5 main body types that most women fall into?
They are:
The Hourglass: Full & Neat- also known as the 8 or X types
The Rectangle: Wide & Slim- also known as the H or I types
The Oval: Apple shape with narrow ankles- also known as the O type
The Triangle: the Pear- also known as the A type
The Inverted Triangle- also known as the V type
To find out YOUR body type you need to gather these items:
- flexible tape measure: you can grab one here on amazon or find one at your local craft store.
- pen
- paper
Next: Take Your Measurements
Note: This part is way easier (and a lot more fun!) if you have a friend to help you. But no worries! If you don’t, you can STILL get accurate results. You’ll just need to make sure the tape measure is in the correct place, held firm, but not digging in and not twisted. Make sure to write down each measurement as you go. Important: Don’t try to remember your measurements—write them down. And measure in the order given.
Ok—let’s start measuring to Discover YOUR Body Type.
#1. Shoulders. Measure from shoulder end to shoulder end with the tape held flat across the back. The tape should hit in the middle of each shoulder. (Hint: I put the tape across my back then bring it around the front of the shoulders.) Write this measurement down.
#2. Chest. The measuring tape should lie flat across your back and come around under your arms. Make sure the tape hits around the widest part of your chest. Write this measurement down.
#3. Waist. Take this measurement at the natural waist. To find your natural waist, bend to the side, and wherever your “bend” is, that is your natural waist. Wrap the measuring tape around your natural waist and measure. Write this measurement down.
#4. Hips.This measurement is taken at the widest part of the hips. (Don’t panic!) It should be 2 inches above the crotch. You want the tape to be even all the way around your hips. Write this measurement down.
And that’s it!
What’s the Verdict?
Your measurements should look like this when written down:
Shoulders: 35 Chest: 32 Waist: 26 Hips: 38
