Happy Thursday! Spring is in full swing here in Arizona. We’ve been enjoying this amazing weather with lots of time outside! We moved into our home almost 4 years ago and we’ve been working to make it our own since. We had it built and were able to pick out some finishes but we knew we would need to do most of the upgrades we wanted ourselves solely because of our budget. Since we’ve been spending so much time outside I’m noticing how much the furniture from the old house doesn’t go with our new house. Either that or it doesn’t go with my design style anymore! So for this Spring’s One Room Challenge with Calling It Home I am going to spruce up our backyard. I want to spend even more time out there while the weather is still nice enough to do it. Here are the before photos of our backyard. If you’re new to the One Room Challenge, it’s a 6 week challenge where we transform a room or space. You can easily follow along with the link below.
our before photos
Most of these pieces came from Pottery Barn and World Market. All of this stuff looks great but it has taken a beating over the past 7 years and I am ready for something new and fresh! I want to create an escape in our backyard. I want it to be bright, fun, engaging and functional! The summers are beyond scorching here in Phoenix so we spend a lot of time in the pool and grilling. I want to get a sectional that we actually sit on. This one is really nice for the little ones because it’s so low to the ground but it’s not so good for me. I couldn’t sit on it pregnant, even though I won’t be having any more babies, I still want something more functional. Who knows, maybe we’ll have friends over who are having babies still.
This makeover is going to be a blast. My main focus is creating a space that is fun, bright, and functional. I love to entertain so it needs to be entertaining friendly. The space also needs furniture that will withstand this Phoenix heat for years. I can’t wait to see what it will look like when it’s all done! Next week I’m sharing my inspiration for this space. Make sure to come back and check it out!
