I still can’t believe I have a 5 year old!! These past 5 years went by too fast. I love this little girl so much and I was racking my brain on what kind of party to throw her. In the past we’ve done Ballerina, Vintage Barbie and Princess parties. This year I knew I wanted the party to be small, fun and easy. She is constantly creating so I came up with an Easy Art Party.
We have 8 seats at our kitchen table and it was ideal to have 7 guests but of course I invited more! I was planning to set up a 6 foot table to accommodate more but it just happened that I got only 7 rsvp’s! I wanted this party to be special but not a lot of work for me. Being 7 months pregnant when planning this party helped me keep things to a minimum but still cute.
I started with decorating the chair for each guest. I tied ribbon around them to add pops of color and tied the apron for the artist coming on the chair. How cute are these aprons? I bought them at Joann’s with a 60% off coupon. I had dreams of adding a cute ruffle and I even bought fabric for them but in the end it didn’t fit into my easy art party theme because that wouldn’t have been easy.
I have this amazingly talented friend Teagan with Present & Pantry. She did all the hand lettering for this party and for my other daughter’s Floral First Birthday Party. Here is what we worked on together:
I love this big sign she made for right about my bar cart. I kept the decoration to the dinning room only to keep my theme of an easy art party possible. Teagan also hand-lettered the party favors for me.
easy art party favors
I kept the party favors on theme! Sending the party guests home with something to do after the party so they can remember the fun time they had at our house is important to me. I used The Oriental Trading Co. for all my party favor needs and for a few things for the party. I added a little stripped ribbon to the bag to tie the whole look together.
Bubbles, a blow up ball, a watercolor palette and a cute art palette sucker were the perfect favors. All of these can be found here.

I set up a art station for each little girl at their seat. I decided to have them paint a unicorn on a canvas. My husband transferred these unicorns on the canvases so it would be easy for the girls to have something to paint.
I set a paint palette at each station and let the girls pick the colors they wanted to use.
To display some of the art supplies I gathered my mason jars and the cute ribbon from the party favors. I found the cute paint can at Joann’s (and again used a coupon on it) to put the paints in.
Some got creative and some just went wild with their colors…my daughter was one of the wild ones!
Art Party Piñata
After we painted the girls sat down for a little snack of popcorn and fresh fruit. The Piñata was next! I found the cutest art piñata at The Oriental Trading Co! I’m a girl mom so I don’t have bats or sticks just lying around my house. This pull string piñata was perfect for our occasion! I was so glad it was a pull string because it started raining as we started to do the piñata outside so it was easy to move it inside and not have to worry about something in my house getting hit. I filled the piñata with my girls favorite candy and lipglosses!
To make this easy art party even easier, I did not make a cake! Instead I made a dozen cupcakes. While the girls were outside doing the piñata, I washed the paint palettes and added sprinkles to them. Decorating your own cupcake is way better than just eating a piece of cake right?!

Even though this was an easy art party for me, it didn’t diminish the fun the ladies had that day. They got to paint, pull the piñata strings, and decorate their own cupcake. Some even danced in the rain!
My friend Amber from Cows X Cacti made these fun shirts for my two girls! I just love how they turned out! They still wear them!
Are you ready to throw your own Easy Art Party? I hope these tips will help you throw the perfect party!
